Exploring past lives with hypnosis

“Knowledge erases Karma”

The art of the hypnotherapist is to help the client discover the true cause of any unwanted behaviour. All behaviour has a cause, and sometimes one needs to look further than this life in order to find it.

Nobody can say with absolute certainty that reincarnation either happens or that it doesn’t happen. How would you actually go about proving it either way in a manner that was beyond dispute? The simple truth is that we don’t know what happens after death or before life, but that doesn’t mean we have to stop working with the concept of past lives.

People who experience what we call ‘past lives’ in a therapeutic context often have significant breakthroughs in health and wellbeing. Is it a past life being experienced or simply a metaphor for an issue in the current life? In the end it doesn’t matter – what really matters is that a desired change happens. If you know the cause of a behaviour or symptom, whether real or metaphoric, you relieve the effect. Knowledge erases karma.

Frequently asked questions:

  • But what if I don’t believe in past lives?

That’s quite OK. I don’t know if I believe in them either – and the simple fact is that nobody can definitively prove or disprove the existence of past lives. Nevertheless, accessing these memories or metaphors or whatever you like to call them can have a definite therapeutic effect. You don’t need to believe in past lives in order to experience one!

  • But what if it’s traumatic?

You might feel strong emotion during a regression, but it is experienced at a slight distance, as though you were watching a movie. Actually, the strongest emotion you are likely to feel is one of relief that at last you have discovered what has been bothering you for so long. And not all regressions go to a traumatic past – most of them go to stories that remind us of wisdom or skills that we have that we can bring into our present lives. At the beginning of the session we always set our intention to go to a life that has special relevance to us now – so whatever comes up will be just what we need to help us become more present in the Now in which we live.

  • But shouldn’t we focus on the Now and not bother about the past?

Yes, but who said a past life was really in the past? Beyond our immediate physical existence there is no time, so from this perspective everything is happening at once. We may call it past-life regression, but it might be more accurate to refer to it as a Now Progression – an expansion into aspects of ourselves existing in the Now but hidden by a veil of time.
